Stefanos Tsitsipas wins the first three games of his Roland Garros semi-final against Alexander Zverev on Friday.

Winner to play Djokovic or Nadal in Sunday’s final

Fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas leads sixth-seeded German Alexander Zverev 6-3 in their Roland Garros semi-final on Friday. The Greek, who has an ATP Tour-leading 38 match wins this season, is attempting to reach his first Grand Slam final.

The winner will challenge World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, the 2016 champion, or 13-time titlist Rafael Nadal, who play their semi-final later today.

Tsitsipas got off to the perfect start on a sun-kissed day in Paris, winning the first three games in 11 minutes. Aggressive from the baseline, the 22-year-old broke Zverev in the second game after a series of deep groundstrokes forced a forehand error. While Zverev settled his early nerves, a crosscourt backhand error gave Tsitsipas the 38-minute opener. In only one of their previous seven ATP Head2Head meetings (with Tsitsipas winning in the 2018 Toronto quarter-finals) has the player that lost the first set gone on to clinch victory.
