A panel of experts consider which of the fights, that have now been confirmed for 2021, they are most looking forward to
Former WBO champion
If it still goes ahead, then Gonzalez vs Estrada is just a superb fight. But out of the domestic schedule Avanesyan vs Kelly is intriguing as it’s a huge step up for Kelly. Though Cacace v Woodstock looks the barnstormer of the bunch.
I think Conor Benn performed brilliantly in his last outing so it’s great to see him with yet another step up. Josh Kelly finally gets the Avanesyan fight. Chantelle Cameron defends her world title and there are a few female rematches. Zelfa Barrett vs Kiko Martinez and JJ Metcalf vs Ted Cheeseman will be good.
World title challenger
I’m really looking forward to JJ Metcalf and Ted Cheeseman. I can’t see it being anything other than an absolute ding dong. Cheeseman is a volume puncher, he’s standing in range and he’s throwing a lot of shots. Metcalfe is a bit of a dark horse in that weight division. It’s going to be a really good fight.
Miguel Berchelt vs Oscar Valdez. That’s a proper fight put on by Top Rank in the US. Carl Frampton’s challenge against Jamel Herring may not be a thriller but will be intriguing to see if the Belfast fighter can make history while Josh Kelly against David Avanesyan will be an exciting test for the former.
