In Glendale, the Arizona Coyotes’ fade into the desert sunset is almost complete.
On Monday night eh Los Angeles Kings posted a 3-2 win over Arizona while the4 St Louis Blues were defeating the Anaheim Ducks.
Anze Kopitar had a goal and two points for the Kings, he now has 999 points in his NHL career.
“It’s incredible to be out there with him and [to be] one point away, it’s a pretty amazing accomplishment,” LA’s Alex Iafallo said. “It’s an honor to be able to play with him.”
The Coyotes have lost 11 of their their 14.
“Anything can happen,” the Coyotes’ Lawson Crouse said. “We have to go right to the end. … That’s all we can really ask, get as many points as you can, because you never really know until the last regular-season game ends.”
Yeah, no. There’s a limit to what can happen.
Jonathan Quick made 17 saves to earn the win on Monday night.
“I thought we were aggressive, we tried to take the game to them rather than receiving it,” Kings coach Todd McLellan said. “We were able to stay ahead of them with line changes, so we were the fresh five rather than the tired five, which makes a big difference for our team. And we were just aggressive.”
Iafallo scored the game-winner in the middle frame off the power to break a 2-2 tie.
