Bear signs two-year, $4 million contract with Oilers

Ethan Bear signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. It has an average annual value of $2 million.

The 23-year-old defenseman, who was a restricted free agent, scored 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) in 71 games as a rookie with the Oilers last season but didn’t score a point in four games in the Stanley Cup Qualifiers. He was fourth on Edmonton in average time on ice (21:58 per game).

Selected by the Oilers in the fifth round (No. 124) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Bear has scored 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) in 89 regular-season games.
